The success of Marvel's comic adaptation of Conan the Barbarian spawned a host of imitators, both from Marvel itself as well as rival comic giant D.C. In the spring of 1975, D.C. blitzed the newsstands with characters like Kong the Untamed, Tor the Caveman, Claw the Unconquered, and of course Beowulf the Dragon Slayer, an obvious choice for any sword-and-sorcery pantheon!
