Inlay stone mosaic, Agra, India

This is a macro shot of a very small plaque inlaid with tiny, coloured pieces of stone. The ornament, like a miniature saucer, is maybe 3" across. Was made in Agra, India, using the same method that was used to create all the magnificent mosaics of the Taj Mahal. We were very fortunate to be able to spend four days in India en route from England to Borneo (where we lived for three and a half years), On one of the days, we travelled down to Agra, where we visited the Taj Mahal and other places, and also bought this tiny "souvenir". Photographed today, 5 December 2013, on the spur of the moment : )
