Goat's-beard glory

A close look at a seedhead of a Goat's-beard plant. They are so beautiful (as are the bright yellow flowers) and I love the patterns seen close to the centre. Unfortunately, this is an introduced noxious weed that has invaded (and continues to invade) so many of our natural areas, preventing native plants from growing there. Despite Goat's-beard "pulls", I suspect this is a losing battle, which is such a great, great shame. Took this photo at Erlton/Roxborough Natural Area.
