Gaillardia

Always a joy to come across these vivid, large Common Gaillardia wildflowers. Photographed this one at Shannon Terrace, Fish Creek Park, a few days ago. Also known as Blanketflower, Brown-eyed Susan, Gaillardia and Wild Gaillardia. It is a perennial that is native to Alberta, and grows in grasslands, roadsides and in open woods throughout Southern Alberta. Flowers bloom in July and August.
