The Glider

This is an immature Bald Eagle, gliding down low over Mallards and Geese that were huddled along the far edge of the river. For some reason, on a cold walk at Beaverdam Flats this morning, there were so many Bald Eagles in one spot along the Bow River. We counted nine of them, two adults and seven immature ones. Such a joy to see even a lone Bald Eagle at any time, but this was breathtaking! Normally, I can't get in-flight photos from my little cameras, but this one is cropped and usable. I'm surprised that the dozens/hundreds of ducks and geese stayed put along the edge of the river with these mighty birds of prey close by.
