Ring-necked duck

This was a first photo of a Ring-necked Duck, so the distant view will have to do until I am ever able to get a closer one. This was my first sighting of a duck of this species. Uncommon in Alberta from April to October. You would expect this duck to be called a Ring-billed Duck, as there is a thin, white ring around the base of the bill. Also, the blue-grey bill has black and white bands at the tip. The expected ring neck (from the duck's name) is barely visible.
