Almost in the crosswalk

The five Mule Deer walked through the dry grass and bushes till they came to the marked pedestrian crossing. I've seen this happen before, in fact just past my home. Deer walked along the sidewalk and across front lawns till they came to a pedestrian crossing, where they proceeded to cross the street. Is this just coincidence or do they sense something?
