Hercules Gap

A spectacular water gap/slot canyon north of Ely, Nevada. I suspect it's antecedent--that is, as the ridge rose under the stream it kept cutting down.

And the thing is, so much is commonsense textural relations--e.g., what cuts what, what's lying on what, etc.--the sort of things that forensic studies do. It's easier to teach than mathematical physics! ;)
