Don't know what kind of palm this is - perhaps someone can let us know.
I think that the sign under the tree says "ROOMS" but ca't be sure.
One of many photographs given to me by a library patron and originally sent from California to her Vermont grandparents in the 30s and 40s.
(Or is this one of the Florida photos?)

Interesting architecture on the house, but I'm not sure if that could help determine whether it's California or Florida.

Alan, I agree, but perhaps Rick might help with the palm identification since I believe there might be palm trees exclusive to California. ( I think he mentioned this once before in reference to one of my other photos.)

Ah, good point! I just became aware myself that coconut trees are palm trees. 8-)

I believe that the tree in this photo is a Mexican Fan Palm (Washingtonia robusta), a variety that is common here in southern California but is sold all across the southern tier of states and abroad. They grow very fast and their seeds take root almost anywhere. I've seen them sprout from cracks in the concrete on the edges of freeways. They can be a nuisance.

Thanks for the identification, Rick. Seems like they grow well in both states. Perhaps, post-holiday, I can search through my messy stacks and see if I can match the print to the camera used in Cali or Florida!
