Macro Mondays 2.0: insects

This image was taken last summer, but I only just now processed and uploaded it for the first time. This is a praying mantis I discovered well hidden among the plant life. It was dining on on a moth when I photographed it. Original image in the note.

Easy to see how you passed it over first time! I once saw a mantis eating a cricket. I could hear it long before I saw it. The sound was like a car workshop (metal grinding on metal). A horrible noise!

Mantis is a very remarkable insekt. We have it also in Europe, but most in the south. I'd never seen it here in the north. It is very patiently and successful at making loot.
