One of Many...

I found this row of ordinary mailboxes lining the streetside. The road dipped just enough to make the scene interesting so I tried my 200mm lens on it to see how it would turn out. I think I could have done with keeping the mailboxes in the background just a bit more in focus so they would stand out in the scene a little better. I also had to deal with rain clouds, making for flat lighting. I thought I'd take advantage of the situation and process the image to give it a bit more of a foreboding moodiness (that seems to be a state that I'm in a lot these days, lol).

nice vanishing point shot, I like the way the image is closed in and we don't see what's outside the frame, works well with the flat light.

Here in rural America, everyone has a mailbox; on a country road such as the one pictured, all the mailboxes have to be placed on one side of the road regardless of house location, in order to accommodate the mail deilvery truck route.

When I was finally home from my trip and pulling into the driveway, I noticed that one of my neighbors a couple of houses down had a mailbox surrounded by brick just like the one you found, lol! Just as well that I didn't notice it before ;-)

I think you succeeded perfectly! :D I'm sorry it was a bit more frustrating than you'd hoped, I know how that feels--you have something in mind that you figure will be easy to find, and then it's just NOT! There happen to be lots of fun mailboxes around here, but I only know that because I've pointed them out and I know where they are. If you aren't paying attention to that sort of thing, they may not just magically appear for you! :D In any event, I think your mail box picture is GRAND!
