Light well used. On subjects like these I suggest trying one thirds compositions, or generous negative space, and maybe a portrait (vertical) composition ;-)

Thanks so much, Sami. The reason I chose to center the figurine as I did was because I had hoped to have it lit in a way that you could see the whole piece instead of only half of it. The most difficult thing to figure out was how to get just enough light around to the back end of the figurine so that half of it wouldn't disappear completely. On my PC monitor (where I did the processing), I achieved the color balance I wanted, but when I saw it on my Apple computer/iPad, it looked quite a bit darker, which was very frustrating, because I wanted you to see the entire figure. So, under the circumstances, it would have been better to do 1/3 composition with this image.
