Superlambananas (12) - 23 July 2021

The history of the Superlambanana, originally designed by Taro Chiezo, is quite long, dating back to 2008 when Liverpool was European Capital of Culture and before that to 1998 and the ArtTransPennine Exhibition. A number, reported variously as 100 or 125, were made and decorated for the 2008 event. In 2010, eight new models, the Eight for 08, were commissioned and seven now stand outside the Museum of Liverpool. I photographed four of these on 17 March 2020 and, on a return visit in 2021, was surprised to find a further three on the river side of the museum.
