The history of the Superlambanana , originally designed by Taro Chiezo, is quite long, dating back to 2008 when Liverpool was European Capital of Culture and before that to 1998 and the ArtTransPennine Exhibition. A number, reported variously as 100 or 125, were made and decorated for the 2008 event. In 2010, eight new models, the Eight for 08 , were commissioned and seven now stand outside the Museum of Liverpool. I photographed four of these on 17 March 2020 and, on a return visit in 2021, was surprised to find a further three on the river side of the museum.
