MA Fine Art (4) - 6 September 2015

An unplanned visit to the Chelsea College of Arts MA Summer Show was a stimulating experience although, frankly, much of the work remained incomprehensible like so much modern art.
One exception was this work by Regan O'Callaghan. My picture shows 'Te Waiata o te Huia', video and sculpture.
Our lives our full of strange connections and the description of this piece had an unexpected resonance with my travels earlier this year in New Zealand [qv]. Ko au te Whare te Whare ko au - Te Waiata o te Huia translates from the Maori as 'I am the house the house is me - the Song of the Huia'. I have used a square crop to emphasise the striking perspective of O'Callaghan's piece.
