An unplanned visit to the Chelsea College of Arts MA Summer Show was a stimulating experience although, frankly, much of the work remained incomprehensible like so much modern art. One exception was this work by Ana Simoes Rodrigues in porcelain and pigment. If my picture lacks a little definition, I think the piece looks good against the stark background. 200_2_P1060534

One exception was this work by Regan O'Callaghan. My picture shows 'Te Waiata o te Huia' , video and sculpture. Our lives our full of strange connections and the description of this piece had an unexpected resonance with my travels earlier this year in New Zealand [qv]. Ko au te Whare te Whare ko au - Te Waiata o te Huia translates from the Maori as 'I am the house the house is me - the Song of the Huia'. I have used a square crop to emphasise the striking perspective of O'Callaghan's piece. 200_2_P1060525SC
