Shoreditch High Street Station - 7 February 2015

The architecture of Shoreditch High Street station could perhaps be described as 'modern brutalist' although I would like to think that brutalism had been left behind. Although the London Overground could be described using some positive adjectives, this building is shockingly and avoidably unattractive. The contrast with the former Hackney station (1870, previous picture) is stark. I do not know what was in the minds of the planners. It is probably a blessing that some lines of sight are softened by, of all things, Boxpark, a pop-up mall.
