Jedem Das Seine (2) - 19 January 2015

The rather Orwellian 'Arbeit Macht Frei' above the gates to Auschwitz is probably known around the world as a symbol of the evil that man does to man. I found 'Jedem Das Seine' more chilling if anything - it translates as 'To Each His Due' as if attempting to justify the same evil. This slogan appears above the gate to Buchenwald and this reproduction was in the British Museum exhibition 'Germany: memories of a nation' which closed in January 2015.
