Fort Wallington (2) - 27 December 2014

Fort Wallington was one of the Palmerston Forts. Construction began in 1861 but is was sold only one hundred years later in 1961 and its private owner demolished most of it so that less remains than of some of the other forts. The wall sections extant partially enclose the Fort Wallington Industrial Estate. The Wallington of today is part of Fareham but was a separate entity in the 19th century.
