Fort Wallington (3) - 27 December 2014

Fort Wallington was one of the Palmerston Forts. Construction began in 1861 but is was sold only one hundred years later in 1961 and its private owner demolished most of it so that less remains than of some of the other forts. The wall sections extant partially enclose the Fort Wallington Industrial Estate. The Wallington of today is part of Fareham but was a separate entity in the 19th century. 200_2_P1020129C

Wallington Footbridge - 26 December 2013

Many of the days in December have been, to say the least, difficult for the photographer so a bright Boxing Day was very welcome. I like holidays for uncluttered photographs and, here, the early morning light was the kind which makes you gasp slightly in the moment you know you have to take a picture. Bridges are amongst my favourite structures and I have been considering this from different angles for many months. This pedestrian route crosses Wallington Way in Fareham from Wallington Hill (Wickham Road). 200_P1000110
