Sadly we are. Not much hope for the future until true Muslims gain the courage to take back their religion, revert to its peaceful roots and follow the loving, merciful example of Mohammed and most importantly label the infidels for what they are. Perhaps Muslim leaders should establish a mechanism akin to excommunication to remove all the evil doers (e.g. ISIS, al-Qaeda, al-Shabab, etc.) who claim to act in the name of Allah but in reality are followers of Satan.

Qu’ranic Verses for Thought:

…And We have not sent you but as a mercy to the worlds. Qu’ran: The Prophets 21:107

A warning for the followers of ISIS, al-Qaeda, al-Shabab and groups that sow hate and genocide in the false name of Islam and the prophet Mohammed: …Surely, the hypocrites will be in the lowest depths of the Fire. Qu’ran: The Women 4:145 and …They shall have a bed of hell-fire Qu’ran: The Elevated Places 7:41 – Not 72 virgins!

In addition, the Qu'ran promotes religious pluralism:

There is no compulsion in religion. Qu’ran: The Cow 2:256

And they say: Be Jew or Christian, you will be guided aright. Qu’ran: The Cow 2:135

Surely those who believe, and those who are Jews, and the Christians… and [do] good, they shall have their reward from their Lord, and there is no fear for them, nor shall they grieve. Qu’ran: The Cow 2:62

Say: O unbelievers! I do not serve which you serve; nor do you serve Him Whom I serve… You shall have your religion and I shall have my religion. Qu’ran: The Unbelievers 109:1-3, 6

Sayings and Teachings of the Prophet Mohammed for Thought:

None of you believes (completely) until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself. – Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim

Accordingly when the Prophet Mohammed was persecuted and asked by his companions to curse his persecutors, he replied, “I have not been sent to lay a curse upon [people] but to be a blessing to them.” He also added, “[Allah] has forbidden us to wrong anyone” and “A true believer is one… who returns love for hatred.” – Sahih Muslim

The merciful are shown mercy by the All-Merciful. Show mercy to those on earth, and God will show mercy to you. Al-Tirmizi (Islamic scholar, 824-892 CE) and Abu-Dawood (author of the six canonical hadith, c. 817-889 CE)

At another time, which is a refreshing example against the anti-Semitism practiced by hypocrites who claim to be Muslim, the Prophet Mohammed declared, “Was he not a human being?” when one of his companions “remarked” that a passing funeral procession was simply for a Jew.[1]

Also in a letter to Negus, the King of Abyssinia, the Prophet Mohammed wrote re: Jesus – I bear witness that Jesus, son of Mary, is indeed a spirit of God and His word, which He conveyed unto the chaste Mary. He created Jesus through His word just as He created Ādam with His hands.[2]

A clear warning to the members of ISIS who are committing genocide:

Whoever hurts a non-Muslim citizen of a Muslim state hurts me… He who hurts a non-Muslim citizen of a Muslim state, I am his adversary, and I shall be his adversary on the Day of Judgement. – Sahih Bukhari

Anyone who kills a non-Muslim… will not smell the fragrance of Paradise. – Sahih Bukhari.

Finally, to conclude to the reinforce the compassion of the Prophet Mohammed, I end with the following narrative: A man walking along a path felt very thirsty. Reaching a well, he descended into it, drank his fill, and came up. Then he saw a dog with its tongue hanging out, trying to lick up mud to quench its thirst. The man said, “This dog is feeling the same thirst that I felt.” So he went down into the well again, filled his shoe with water, and gave the dog a drink. So, God thanked him and forgave his sins. The Prophet (Mohammed) was asked, “Messenger of God, are we rewarded for kindness to animals?” He said, “There is a reward for kindness to every living animal or human.” Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim
