McIntire's Childrens Home Baseball Team

The McIntire Children's Home was named in honor of John McIntire, one of the first residents of Zanesville, Ohio. In his will, McIntire (1759 - 1815), provided for the establishment of a school for poor children. The McIntire Academy operated between 1836 and 1856, when it was taken over by the Zanesville Board of Education. A Muskingum County Children's Home was established in 1865 to provide homes for poor or orphaned children; in 1874 it was renamed the McIntire Children's Home. These ten boys (names unknown), made up the baseball team.
