Docks High and Dry in Manaus
The low water has made the docks useless. We are tendering from the ship to shore. Note the tour busses parked on a floating barge.
Towboat on the Amazon

The big container ships cannot get up the river, so the "tugs" are pushing barges loaded with containers.
The fellows on this boat are having a great time, interacting with the cruise ship passengers.

This is the "head man". You want to be his friend. (Captain, what captain?)
The special buttons on his chef uniform are quite unique. Hello, button group!

Our tour included some interesting interchanges. The staff was very nice about the imposition.
Officers Menu

We didn't see the crew mess, or their menu. This what is offered to the officers of the ship.

Bulk Carrier and Brown Water
We were anchored in the Amazon River. You can see the water is nice and brown. The bulk carrier is in an area with less sediment.
Shoreline of Santarem Shows Low Water

The low water is a greater problem upstream in Manaus. Ocean-going ships can navigate 1,000 miles upstream.
