Slow Ways (1) route connecting Wightwick and Wombourne. Having walked the off-road sections of the route over the years I don’t think much has changed, so I have gathered some pictures together of the South Staffs Railway walk here in the Wightwick to Wombourne direction.

An alternative to the Slow Way route (1) from Wightwick to Wombourne would be to join the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal at Wightwick Bridge and to follow the towpath southward. The canal runs more or less parallel to the first route that utilises the South Staffs Railway Walk, and has points where you could cross to the Railway Walk.
Having walked the off-road sections of the route over the years I don’t think much has changed, so I have gathered some pictures together. They order from the Wightwick end towards Wombourne, but not always looking in that direction of travel.

In the woodland on the Colton Hills, below the large school, there is a path leading through the wood to a lower footpath. Around this area there is evidence of the old Penn Brick Works, closed around 1910.

This route was submitted by a Volunteer. Having walked the off-road sections of the route over the years I don’t think much has changed, so I have gathered some pictures together. They order from the Wolverhampton end towards Wombourne, but not always looking in that direction of travel. The road sections at either end are not covered.
