Stoneboat pulling sounds cruel but it was part of history. I hope they don't have to do it today!

The horses worked very hard, but they were closely attended to by their teamsters; and midway several teams were removed from the competition because their handlers thought they were working too hard. Mostly the horses seemed self-driven to pull, like sled-dogs in the northlands are excited to pull.
