Old Buildings at McCurdy Herring Smokehouse

The McCurdy Herring Smokehouse business operated during the 20th Century in the specialized business of salting and smoking herring for human consumption. Far more viable during the first part of its existence, demand and sales diminished and it closed around 1990. About 10 closely grouped buildings were involved, most with covered with rustic cedar shingles. A preservation group is trying to overcome the ravages of time and having some success, but in the Winter of 2018 one building collapsed into the Lubec Narrows and washed onto nearby Campobello Island in Canada. (And, they won't give it back ? )
