'Cavedale' with 11th. century 'Peveril castle' ruins -
A view of the rugged valley of 'Cavedale' which leads down to the old village of 'Castleton' in Derbyshire..The ruins of the 11th. century Peveril Castle is seen to the left. It was the main settlement of the feudal barony of William Peverel, and was founded some time between the Norman Conquest of 1066 and its first recorded mention in the Domesday Survey of 1086...
