Hi Alan

Is the flask so heavy that it needs two engines to pull? Maybe one is insurance against break downs?

Nice shot Y*

All the best

Hi Alan,

Interesting capture, and well taken.

I seem to remember a requirement for nuclear flask trains to have a brake van at the back, such that in the event of derailment there was no need for anyone to walk past a potentially leaking flask to protect the line..

Best Wishes
Peter

These nuclear flask trains are required by law to have two locos providing the power - whether they are both at the front or top n tailed - in case of failure. Nobody wants a trainload of radioactive waste sat at the bottom of the garden! I believe they are also route restricted as well.
