Portreath

Once a major port for the tin mining areas of Cornwall (importing coal to fuel the pumping engine houses and smelting processes, and exporting tin), now a shadow of its former self.
The gash in the foreground is a collapsed sea cave. There are no reports of when this appeared but it must have been dramatic at the time! The town became a hive of industry in the late 18th century and as the structure seems fairly recent (in geological terms) I would guess that the sea cave collapse might have occured somewhere between 1500 and 1750, but it's only a guess.
