Andy Rodker club has replied to Peter Castell clubIt must have been ghastly, but such was the general poverty in the Duchy (no change there, I can tell you!) that miners actually PAID to put their names on a list to be drawn out of a hat to see who the lucky ones were, such was the desperation to get work!!
The mines extended a long way out under the sea floor!
