I may well have posted this on Pano and on ip before but as I took so many shots like this, if it's a new or an old one, I don't think it matters all that much!.

Cornish coast. Pentire Head in the distance, where Pat 29 is at the moment I think!
"HELLO, PAT - CAN YOU HEAR ME!!!!!!" ?
Man and his Man is a strange but intriguing name for these islands. I don't know its origins. The Ordnance Survey just didn't like it (bless them) and so found an alternative name (one not used locally of course!) and so you find 'Bawden Rocks' as their name on all the official maps instead. (Yawn)

I follow a little-used variant of the South West Peninsula Coast Path. It is much more interesting than the main path. It is about half way down from the top, overgrown in places such as here but it weaves between old ruins of shelters for tin miners and has patches of wild flowers, again such as here, not seen on the main path.

The pumping engine house for Wheal Coates tin mine. For Pam.
I may have posted this here before but a quick trawl didn't find it!

Towanroath pumping engine house is seen on the cliff top. Its crucial function was to pump the mine shafts clear of water, night and day. And the Wheal Coates tin mine shafts extended far out below the sea!

Tubby's Head. Actually this is easy because of the gentle slope and massive ledges and it's only about 15 feet from where I am to level ground. No danger of falling to a watery doom!

Abandoned in the late 19th century, it was active only for a few decades, with varying degrees of success.

This path is steeper than it looks here. Fun going down but care needed. And a slog coming back!

The very last photo I uploaded from my much-lamented Nokia N95 camera-phone (a much better camera than a phone, I would say!). The next day I dropped it in a piece of marshy ground and it was past recovering even though I tried to dry it out in a bag of rice, as recommended by all and sundry!

From above St Agnes Head. The islands are named Bawden Rocks on Ordnance Survey maps but traditionally known as Man and His Man, a much better name I feel!

The tin mines extended far out under the sea. Descent and ascent was by ladder or primitive rope cable cars. The accidents and deaths were many.
