I must say, every year your mother's garden looks more beautiful. She has done so well considering the recent hot weather. My garden is nothing like it looks most years, but the runner beans are performing well now!

How I miss runner beans! They don't grow here. My Spanish brother-in-law has a veg garden and he tried to grow them from seed from my Mum. They grew into impressive plants, lovely red flowers but just wouldn't set. He tried a few times and gave up in the end.
I too am amazed how well she still does given her age and so on! Yes, she does very well! A bit of canny cheating helps, such as, on my insistence, substituting very heavy terracotta containers for plastic on weight grounds. We both hate plastic containers and never had them but needs must and, if well disguised and hidden as in this shot, who's to know???
