Because the tunnel curves, the distant point of light at the end isn't there, making it very dark and spooky almost immediately.

I was amused by this hike, John because for the past 7 years I must have walked the Sierra de La Cabrera (the western end of which you see here) about 100 times - but never UNDER it! - until today; sorry, yesterday as it's just gone midnight!

The track looks in good condition may be there are thoughts it may be used again, we could do with some of the ones that idiot Beeching closed back in use, instead of wasting money on HS2

I agree, Peter.
The line closed only 5 years ago in the depths of the recession. You may be right although 20 miles further up the line a collapsed tunnel has probably given pause for thought!
