Am I right to assume there aren't many farms in that area?

Correct Diane, Goats roam up here but that is the only farming activity (of course, many farms in the valleys)! Actually in my 100s of walks here (literally!), I recall seeing goats twice only and humans only a few times. Despite it being only 30 miles from Madrid, it is amazingly devoid of people, even at weekends! The Spanish like to congregate in popular tourist areas not too far from their chosen restaurant. A day out in the country is a good 3 hour lunch with the extended family followed by a 20 minute walk close to the car park!
