Hwange National Park was founded in 1928 as part of the five-nation Kavango - Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area. Now it is the largest natural reserve in Zimbabwe. It is around 14,600 sq km in area.

The adventurous historic stand-up gondola cable car (established in 1960), which leads up to the Toni-Demez hut at 2,685 metres above sea level. Only 2 people fit in one gondola. The door is locked from the outside! ~~~~~ Die abenteuerliche historische Stehgondel-Seilbahn (errichtet 1960), die zur Toni-Demez-Hütte in 2.685 Metern Höhe hinauf führt. In eine Gondel passen nur 2 Personen. Die Tür wird von außen verschlossen! ~~~~~
