Hog Lake

This is Hog Lake or Hog Canyon Lake in the channeled scablands of eastern Washington, about a fifteen or twenty minute drive from our home. Its long, narrow profile, deep waters and basalt cliffs are typical of the many lakes in our area including the lake near our home.
We have been trying to get out once a week for some hiking and this was our destination this week. We hiked about five miles with little elevation gain and having lost the trail ended up hiking all the way around the lake, not realising we were on private land part of the time.
We have gotten into a kind of routine. We get out one morning for a few groceries, one day for hiking and otherwise stay home, going for a walk near home each day, weather permitting. The rest of the time is spent on projects of various kinds indoors and outdoors.
Most of the parks, hiking trails, national forest and state lands are closed, but a few little-known places such as this are still open. We saw a couple other people but that was all and had a beautiful day. We thoroughly enjoyed both the day the wildflowers which were starting to bloom.
