Mountain Lady's Slipper

Mountain Lady's Slipper
This is the rare albino form of the Mountain Lady's Slipper, Cypripedium montanum. The ordinary form has petals and sepals that vary from a dark mahogany to greenish with mahogany markings and a pouch that is purple lined. This form, forma praetertinctum, has no purple color at all and lacks even the red spots that are sometimes found on the staminode. These were photographed in Blewett Pass south of Leavenworth, Washington.
