Morovitz Meadows

Morovitz Meadows
Taken at Morovitz Meadows, this is where the Park Butte trail and the Railroad Grade trail diverge. I had hiked to Park Butte and was back at the meadows trying to decide whether or not to hike to Railroad Grade. The day had been partly cloudy and Mount Baker had been and still was hidden in clouds, but I finally decided to do the Railroad Grade trail, very much the right decision since Baker began to clear shortly thereafter. As is obvious from the photo, Morovitz Meadows were very wet, more of a series of ponds and streams than meadows, but going on to Railroad Grade took me above this watery swamp. Railroad Grade, as I've noted before, has nothing to do with any actual railroad but is a glacial moraine that runs up to the southwest shoulder of Mount Baker.

ColRam, Malik Raoulda, tiabunna, Nora Caracci and 16 other people have particularly liked this photo
