Ptarmigan Ridge and Huntoon Point

Ptarmigan Ridge is the ridge that begins on the right of the photo. It sweeps off to the right and leads all the way to Mount Baker. I am crossing the ridge here and heading back along the south slope of Table Mountain. The trail here is mostly cinder and ash, evidence of Baker's volcanic nature. Huntoon Point is on the left and we've been on top of it both in the summer and in the winter on snowshoes from the ridge on the left which reaches it from Artist's Point. The whole area was fantastically beautiful even though neither Mount Baker nor Mount Shuksan were visible. Now it has a different kind of beauty - there is already over six feet of snow (two meters) in this area.
