Hatcher Pass

Hatcher Pass
One of the last days we were in Alaska we drove first from Glennallen to Palmer and then after getting a motel for the evening drove to Hatcher Pass and the Independence Mine. This photo was taken near the top of Hatcher Pass.

Heidiho, Don Sutherland, Ecobird, Annemarie and 24 other people have particularly liked this photo

Alaska had the same kind of winter we had here in Washington, about 20% of normal snowfall and now, like us, they are having a warm and dry summer.

Yeah, but it's still astounding to not see any snow cover on those peaks in June.... Amazing how quickly the climate is changing.

Washington is the same. Every time we go through the mountains it's as though we're in a different country. They don't look the same without the snow.

I did notice the crazy weather pattern this summer causing normally cool states like WA to have hotter temps. than even we normally see here.... Our misery has been tropical waves coming every every few days which turn out airmass into a sauna. Yeah, our temps. aren't as hot as most summers, but when 85˙F feels like 95˙F 'cause of the humidity & high dew pts., it doesn't feel like we're catching a break {;^\

Some great scenery here, Ron. As others have said, it looks a little strange without snow but it's good to get a different view.

A stunning landscape shot Ron. I like the traces of snow. We have recently returned from Scotland and there is still snow on some of the mountains too, - quite a bit in places
