Marvelous & peaceful scene! Nicely captured =) The Denali Highway is a great way to effortlessly get great scenery photos... My friends and I did the whole length on horseback some years ago --- back when those peaks in the background still had snowcaps year round.

That's amazing. That would be a remarkable ride. Did the mosquitoes bother?

No.... Mainly 'cause there's no way we would've undertaken than ride during mosquito season ;) Would've been too much to ask of the horses (such long exposure to relentless mosquito bites would actually be detrimental to their health) and none of us really wanted to donate blood in such a torturous fashion. No, we picked a time of year when it was going to be too cold for any insects to be bugging us ;) Fewer people around in the off season, too.

I HAVE been in AK during the "summer".... Wanted to check out bears and stuff. I kid you not, we could hear the whine of mosquito swarms almost 1/4 mile before getting near any water. The bears were amazing and all, but we all swore to never go up there during mosquito season as long as we lived. It was the most miserable week I've ever spent in the wilderness. LOL!
