Autumn Color

Autumn Color
No, the colors are not changing here yet. This was taken last October in Wallace Falls State Park while we were hiking there. The yellow leaf is the leaf of one of our native hardwoods, the Bigleaf Maple, Acer macrophyllum and the spots are caused by a fungus very common on the leaves of these trees, the Tar Spot Fungus, Rhytisma punctatum.

The fungus does make an interesting pattern. Here, some leave are starting to change color, but that is because of the drought.
