Masdevallia caudata

This orchid species is from Colombia, Venezuela, Peru and Ecuador and is from high elevations. With the caudae or tails the flowers are over six inches (15 cm) tall, bigger than the plant itself. The details of the individual flowers can be seen in the photo below. We are travelling and commenting may be delayed as a result.
