Masdevallia Falcon's Gold

Masdevallia Falcon's Gold
This flower is a hybrid of Masdevallia Falcon's Sunrise and Masdevallia glandulosa. The second parent is purple and obviously contributed very little to the color of this hybrid.

I've been a bit bored with my pictures of orchids and thought I'd try something different with lighting. Not sure if I like this or not, but it is different.

The picture was taken on a black background using some supplemental backlighting and using a flashlight aimed into the tube of the flower to highlight the flower.

The picture was very slightly cropped before posting and was tweaked in PSE. The highlights were toned down slightly and the shadows were lightened just a bit.

Beautiful orchid and capture! The lighting brings out those gorgeous tones and colors of the flower very effectively =) Well done!
