Nowadays in the UK if a property is empty for too long the Council will take steps towards the owners !! .....So a lot of people knock down dwelling to avoid this ....My Mother used to live 3 doors away from me, when she passed was sold & the builder knocked it down & has remained open ground for the last 14yrs, but good for the wildlife !!!

So much can be done to make nice homes again ... sad really !!!

Yes, here too, but sometimes there is a long delay because the county can't find the owner of abandoned property.
