Bas relief, First National bank building

Bas relief, First National bank building
There are many panels depicting local industry. This one shows a logger wielding an axe. Built 1929, opened November, 1930. The bank closed many years ago and other businesses have occupied the building. It is now occupied by a restaurant and offices.

Don Barrett (aka DBs travels), Ronald Losure, John FitzGerald and 2 other people have particularly liked this photo

What a treasure. Have the various tenants of the building played the vault as a feature?

I don't know. There was a very long gap in my residence here (1962-2008), so there's a lot I'm not aware of. Thanks, Smiley.

Was the bank a casualty of the Depression, then?

Yes, according to the source on the previous photo, "First National Bank survived the Depression." Oddly, the article doesn't say when it closed and I don't remember if it was still a bank when I left here in 1962. Well, a 13-year-old wouldn't notice anything like that, anyway!

Let's wait patiently down there when they will throw their money through these windows to give back to the people what they deserve.
