Miso

Miso
There is no miso in my town, so I ordered online. I thought I was getting dark miso, but this is definitely light, which I don't like nearly as much. But, I will gladly use it, because I haven't had any since I lived in California.

Oh dear, that's really bad! I thought it's something that could be had anywhere. We have a saying "Was der Bauer nicht kennt, frisst er nicht" (what the peasant doesn't know, he won't eat)- that seems to go for your town.

It's very odd. There are 2 (!) Japanese, 2 Thai, 1 Vietnamese, 4 Chinese and 8 Mexican restaurants. I can buy Korean kimchi, Japanese & Chinese noodles, Thai peanut sauce, Basmati rice, Chinese rice wine, sake and anything Mexican. Not too bad for food - but no miso! For buying other things, it's more limited.
