Well - tried out Yoiupic ... seems more for people who are tech savy (not me) and us a SmartPhone-don't have and don't want.
Onward -
Tried out 500px ...easy to get in and upload photos, but in under an hr received over a page of 'seen by' and 'commented on' from current users.
Not sure about that one... jury is still out.

Yes, that's what I like least about it. The 500px avalanche of "response" that isn't really. On the other hand, some of our old Pano friends are there. YouPic also has meaningless Hearts and Followings, but not nearly the volume. However...boring and impersonal.

Our interrests in international communucation, starting with the mediun of photographs
needs another base.
It should be supported by an independent, non-comercial organisation like the

UNESCO

just to keep the started communications alive.

I do not like the right-wing thinking spirit, taking all over as seen in the USA, France, UK, Belgium, Netherlands Germany ......

There is actually a non-commercial one belonging to National Geographic, called Your Shot. I joined a long time ago, but it's quite primitive, lacking even a Friend list or a reasonable way to track comments. No viewer data provided either, as I recall. However, a friendly atmosphere and a lot of photographers in Mid-east, Asia and Africa, so interesting in that way. For me, it's not a contender and I don't use it anymore.

As for your last statement - I completely AGREE!!!

We lived the same moment at the ending of Panoramio .... we have to find another home again !

Ipernity... they lied to us... it wasnt about money... they just dont want it any more. Wish they had the guts to tell us that.

23HQ and photocamel are about what is left.

I fell in a shop floor on Tuesday.. the floor was dry and lethally shiny and my shoes have grips so you can imagain how awful the floor was.

Andy and some others have mentioned 23HQ, so I'll probably try that, at least for while. Loss of friendships and loss of access to wonderful photographs has been disastrous recently; probably never to recover (Geez, I wish I had a screen-print of my Pano "Favorite Photographers" from over the years.)
