I really like your composition. And your title. As an old guy I'm trying to avoid the marginality that comes with retirement, mainly by not retiring. I don't need no stinkin recliner.

I'm here to tell you that the day after you retire, everyone thinks you're bored and need something to do. That something consists of "helping" with all and sundry errands, last-minute favors, babysitting, shoulders to cry on, etc. (Oh, do I sound a little annoyed? Haha!) I loathe recliners, the ugliest furniture on earth.

That's right! He can lean over and knock his pipe on the edge of the concrete, thus fertilizing them.

Diane, Could have sworn you had a comment about 'these being ugly chairs' -
but can't find it now ! FYI - agree with the 'new' huge, overstuffed monsters being sold.
We have 2 - bought umpteen years ago when they were still a decent size to fit in a den. Even had them re-upholstered cause the newer ones (like in your photo) were too big for our den.
Have decided the big monsters, along with oversutffed sofas belong in huge houses -- which we do not have.
Anyhow, that is my opinion [ and yup --- sticking with it ! ]

I hate most recliners, Peggy, they're made for very large men and are usually in awful fabric. There are a very few styles that are more like a reasonable chair!
