➽ Der berühmteste Hof Augsburgs, der mit seinen italienisch anmutenden Säulen auch heute noch den Glanz der Renaissance in Augsburg ausstrahlt. Er wurde 1515 erbaut und gilt als erster Renaissance Prunkhof Deutschlands.
Er ist der nördlichste Innenhof der Fuggerhäuser, war für die Fuggerfrauen reserviert und bietet deshalb eine exklusive Atmosphäre. Hier atmet alles Italien – aufgrund der Bauformen der Renaissance. Ein Wasserbecken in der Mitte des Hofes sorgt für eine entspannte Stimmung, die umlaufenden Arkaden für Sonnenschutz im Sommer. Der Damenhof ist Höhepunkt der gesamten Anlage der Fuggerhäuser und ein "hortus conclusus", ein geschlossener Garten.
Der Stil des Damenhofes entspricht der so genannten "Augsburger Renaissance". Damit wird ein Kunstschaffen bezeichnet, das eine Verbindung von heimischen und italienischen Formelementen suchte.

Der Grundriss des Hofes ist trapezförmig. Im Westen hat der Hof eine Arkadenwand, deren dünne toskanische Säulen aus Rotmarmor bestehen und deren Bogen aus Terrakotta geformt sind. Nach oben schließt eine Altane die Wände ab. Wer den Hof entworfen hat, ist nicht geklärt. Diskutiert werden Sebastian Loscher und Hans Burgkmair. Auf Rekonstruktionszeichnungen des Hofes sind reichhaltige Groteskmalereien zu sehen, die man Hans Burgkmair zuschreibt. ➽ Weitere Infos hier!

Heute befindet sich im Hof ein Restaurant mit über 100 Plätzen. Erlaubt es das Wetter nicht, im Freien zu sitzen, begeben sich Gäste in die Gewölbe des früheren Fuggerkellers

➽ The most famous yard of Augsburg, which radiates with its Italianate columns the splendor of the Renaissance in Augsburg. It was built in 1515 and is considered the first Renaissance grand courtyard of Germany.
It is the northernmost courtyard of the Fugger family houses and was reserved for the Fugger women and therefore offers an exclusive atmosphere. Here everything breathes Italy - due to the designs of the Renaissance. A water basin in the middle of the courtyard creates a relaxing atmosphere, the surrounding arcades for sun protection in summer. The Damenhof is the highlight of the entire system of the Fugger houses and a "hortus conclusus", an enclosed garden.
The style of the Damenhof corresponds to the so-called "Augsburger Renaissance". Thus is called the making of art which sought a combination of local and Italian design elements.

The ground plan of the yard is trapezoidal. In the west the yard has an arcades wall whose thin Tuscan columns made of red marble and their arches shaped of terracotta. Upwardly a Altane completes the walls. It's not known who designed the yard, Sebastian Loscher and Hans Burgkmair, (engl.) are discussed. Today, the yard houses a restaurant with about 100 seats. If the weather doesn't allow to sit outdoors, guests move into the vault of the former Fugger cellar.
